I cheated a little bit for this blog post. I listened to two new podcasts. One on a familiar subject and one that was not so familiar.
Let me first begin by telling you how this post is very timely. Last Thursday, I introduced my students yesterday to the "Podcast". To my surprise my students had no idea they existed.
We explored some topics and I showed them what kind of subjects were available before we stopped and listened to a podcast called "The Story" which is provided Public Radio International. We listened to a story about the Dust Bowl. This was mildly interesting to my students at best but I think more over they understood the concept of a podcast.
The first podcast that I listened to was for my students. It was a hunting podcast, Peterson's Bowhunting Radio. I showed my students the different varieties of podcasts that one has to choose from. I also wanted to prove that there was something out there that would interest them. This particular episode included tips for bow hunting. It was informative.
The next podcast was called Grammar Girl. This is a podcast this quick very short episodes that give grammar tips. I enjoyed this podcast and I liked the length of it. I thought is might be great to use with my students as a warm up.
Next, I am planning on podcastng with my students. It should be interesting.
